Sea-Saw

Recently I've been working on a series of ideas using old tools (and other objects) to create new artworks, or 'interventions.'

I have made several sketches on the theme, but this idea for sea-saw came unbidden the moment I saw this old carpenter's saw in a second-hand shop in Holland.

All I had to do was work out how to achieve a satisfactory result without distorting or discolouring the original hardened steel blade.

My first attempt (on another saw blade) using drills and an angle grinder were not successful (as I had suspected), so I opted for the water jet cutting process.

This entailed the production of a vector drawing for the CNC operated water jet cutting machine.

Potentially limitless variations on this theme.
