It Came From Outer Space

Following his exhibition Size Does Matter earlier this year, sculptor Ronald A. Westerhuis' massive stainless steel sculpture Stepping Stones is still waiting to blast off from its launchpad outside the Museum De Fundatie in Zwolle, Netherlands.

Well, it's not origami, so I guess the logistics are quite monumental.

Strange, but interesting contrast to the current exhibition showing at the Museum — Facing Fear, an extensive juxtaposition of the sculptures of Giacometti and Lyn Chadwick.

In the upper gallery is an equally impressive 'maquette' of Stepping Stones, beautifully placed in the well of the spiral staircase.

Stepping Stones may be the title of the piece, but I can't help thinking it looks like something from a 1950s science fiction film. Just need to power up the voltage and get some electro-static special effects shimmering all over its surface.
